Many people settle for a life they don’t wish for. They believe it’s how their lives were meant to be and there’s no way out. The way our life pans out comes down to the choices we make. Every single day we are bombarded by these choices — yes or no, water or soda.  They determine the direction our life takes; therefore it goes without saying, that we can transform our lives by simply making better choices. Here are six choices that can change your life:

  1. Who You Choose to Surround Yourself With

Motivational speaker Jim Rohn famously said that we are the average of the five people we spend the most time with — I couldn’t agree more. Are you surrounding yourself with people who are helping you to grow and become a better person or those who are negative, holding you back, and weighing you down? Who we choose to surround ourselves with has a direct impact on the outcome of our lives.

  1. How You Choose to Spend Your Time

Do you have goals and dreams? What are you doing each day to bring you closer to them? You can turn all your dreams into reality if you set definite goals and make the choice to stop procrastinating and take action in the direction of them.  Perhaps you’re making time for everything else besides that even though you know it’s what you should be doing. Do a little each day and eventually you will get to where you want to be in life.

  1. How You Choose to Do Things

Do you choose to just get things over with or do you give it your best shot? The things you do are a reflection of who you are. Take pride in whatever it is you are doing — the way you carry yourself, the way you speak to others, the way you present your work, the way you raise your children — always give your best. When you continuously give your best, you will soon feel self-fulfilled and develop a momentum to keep on doing better and better in life.

  1. The Outlook You Choose To Have on Life

Are you someone who complains and give excuses to not be where you want in life? — “I can’t finish my degree because the campus is too far.” How do you choose to look at the circumstances in your life — as misfortunes or opportunities, problems or solutions? Do you have a positive or negative mind-set? Are you choosing to use your challenges as an avenue for growth or failure? Your perspective on life is pivotal to the way it turns out.

  1. What You Choose to Eat

It’s true: you are what you eat — eat like crap, you will feel and look like crap. Many are under the impression that eating healthy means salads, greens and diets that deprive them of tasty food. It really does not have to be that complex. It comes down to the choices you make at the supermarket —- coke or water, ice-cream or yogurt, fruits or candy. People underestimate the power of the things they eat and are oblivious that what they eat affects almost everything about their life.

  1. What You Choose to Say

A word is a powerful weapon. A single spoken word has the power to completely change our lives — yes or no, I am sorry or I am not sorry. Think carefully before you speak and then say what you mean. As Don Miguel wrote, be impeccable with your word. Speak with integrity. You have complete control of the words you speak — choose wisely as it takes one single word to lose an opportunity or a loved one.

Bonus Choice: Always choose to be your authentic self.

  3. This really resonated with me the outlook you choose to have on life tip! One of my fav. things to say as a mom is that I keep chill by seeing the sippy cup half full, even after the terrible two toddler throws it on the floor! ❤

  4. Thank you for this post! I recently went through a friend cleanup in my life and it forced me to let go of someone who was so toxic in my life. You’re right.. who you surround yourself with really does matter and can make a HUGE deal when it comes to making your life more fulfilling & positive xx 🙂

    1. Most definitely Kait. I did the same recently and it’s been so challenging at first; I kept wondering if I was doing the right thing. I stuck it through and it make a huge positive impact on my life. I’m glad it did for you as well. Thanks for sharing and for reading. Have a great day 🙂
