Hi, it’s so nice of you to stop by. I’m Candace — a Caribbean (Trini) girl who is loving life!
For a very long time I had been in search of happiness — real genuine happiness — but was looking in all the wrong places. After much failed attempts, I only recently got it right. I started a journey to live differently — with purpose and meaning. Along the way, I figured out the key to true happiness. Today, I have never been happier and more at peace in my whole life. This is reflected in the irrepressible smile I wear — hence the name of my blog. I became fascinated with the concept of
finding creating happiness and was driven to become a Certified Life and Happiness Coach. My aim is to share secrets and lessons learned along the way in living a happier, more fulfilling life.
Allow me to paint you a picture of my demeanour — I’m not very talkative, but vibrant and animated. On most days, I have a spring in my step and a slight smile on my face. I laugh a lot and often struggle to keep a straight face, especially in serious moments. I am witty and never miss an opportunity to make a sarcastic joke or funny gesture, just to put a smile on someone else’s face.
I am a realist with big dreams. I studied until I was 27 and landed myself a pretty decent job as an engineer; however, my true passion lies in writing and helping others. I only recently started to follow my passion (thanks to my love Andy) and believe that one day I’ll be a best-selling author.
5 Random Facts About Me:
- I love to sleep but am a morning person.
- I’m always joking and making light of situations (I dislike drama and confrontation).
- I rarely watch TV (maybe twice a year).
- I drink a cup of green tea every morning because I go bananas with caffeine 🙁 (I drool over the smell of coffee though).
- I am always up for a challenge and love to try new things.
My Special Love:
When I met the love of my life, Andy, it took me some time to believe that everything I ever wanted (and so much more) existed in one guy. He is, without a doubt, the best person I know — funny, thoughtful, genuine, humble, positive and driven (to name a few). He came into my life at a time when I needed him the most. Simply put, he is the best thing that ever happened to me. He’s the main reason why I am at this wonderful place in my life today. He encourages me to do what I love while becoming the best woman I can be, and has been my biggest supporter from day one. He is my best friend who I’m in a beautiful, passionate relationship with.
My parents separated when I was 13, and as difficult as it was, I believe it was a blessing in disguise. My pseudo-parents are my two sisters (I’m the middle one); we have different personalities but are quite alike in many ways, extremely close, best friends, and certainly keep one another in check.
I spend a lot of time with my adorable puppy — Mimi. She’s a white fur ball who is quite hyper and loves to play fetch. She literally follows me around E-V-E-R-Y-W-H-E-R-E, much like my shadow. When she’s not busy doing mischief, she’s distracting me from whatever I’m doing by being cute. She is just a sweet little pup who love cuddles and my full attention.
By the way, she is hardly ever called Mimi — amongst my sisters, Andy and myself she’s called: Minimos, Mims, Mims-a-loo, Schmooey, Schmoo, Little Mimos, Moogie, Loogie, Boogie, Schmoogie, Schmimi… the list goes on. She is extremely spoilt and she knows it!
I was once the girl with way too many friends. As I grew older, I recognised the difference between “people that I know” and “real friends”. I have grown very particular about whom I allow into my life and those whom I consider real friends. As such, I keep very, very few friends aside from my two sisters and Andy.
5 Things I Love:
- The Ocean (my go to place to unwind).
- A beautiful sky (I love sunsets, sunrise and stars).
- Kind, honest and humble people (they are so rare).
- Italian Food (any day, anytime).
- Chocolate (we have a toxic off and on love affair).
What I Do When I’m Not Working:
At least once a week the introvert in me needs to be alone to refresh and reset — I read, write, garden, sew, cook, meditate, spend hours on YouTube, or just sleep. Other than that, I spend the majority of my free time with Andy — training at the gym, up to some spur of the moment adventure, or escaping reality to a spontaneous mini getaway.
My Favourite Quote:
“Success isn’t about how much money you make; it’s about the difference you make in people’s lives.” — Michelle Obama
My Ultimate Life Goal:
To make a positive impact in the world while doing what I love, with the ones I love.
Thank you for visiting. I hope you stick around 🙂
Keep Smiling – Love, Candace
