It’s always nice when someone genuinely compliments or tells us what they love about us; but we shouldn’t wait for someone to do that to feel good—we can do it all by ourselves. The problem is, we rarely pay attention to the things we love about ourselves—True? I thought asking a question will be a good way to probe for some answers and open us up to some much deserved self-love, which by the way, is not being narcissistic. I’m sure we’re all quite modest and will perhaps prefer not say it out loud; but if we’re being honest here, aren’t there things we love about ourselves, too?  So, here goes…

Question: What do you love most about yourself?

My response: Well… I love my never-failing discernment of character; my ability to adapt to almost any situation; my deep level of compassion; my sense of humour; that I’m a fast learner; and that I stay true to myself.

How about you?

  1. Another great question! I love these posts! I think you and I have discussed the importance of self-love before. Spending most of my time by myself in a new city over the past two years, I have learned a lot about who I really am as a person, and have finally learned to love myself. I love how open-minded I am. I love my patience and sincerity. I love my ability to connect with strangers on a personal level, and to quickly make new friends. I love my ability to see the beauty that exists in this world, and my appreciation for different cultures. We may all be different in some ways, but we’re all human beings, and, in general, I think we all tend to cherish similar things… family, friends, etc. Most of all, I love my positive attitude, my perseverance, my happy nature, and my strong desire to spread love and happiness to everyone around me. If I can put a smile on someone else’s face, no matter how my day may be going otherwise, that is a day well-spent for me. I genuinely love seeing other people who are happy. I may not be able to change the whole world, but that won’t stop me from trying. In any situation, as long as I am still breathing, I believe I have a chance to succeed. My main goal in life is to spread positivity to as many people as possible. We all could use more peace, love, and happiness in our lives. 😀 This may seem like a long list, but I believe that anything we could say that we love about other people is something that we should learn to love about ourselves.

    1. Your list makes me happy Danny. It’s great for us to discover who we truly are, and embrace and love our selves. It’s an excellent way to know our worth and what we deserve from others.

I love that you spread positivity because yep, we all can certainly use more peace, love, and happiness in our lives!

Thanks so much for sharing 🙂

  2. I love that I’m a positive person, I love that I don’t hold on to regrets, and I love that I can cheer people up, be it with some wise words or lame jokes, whatever works in the moment. Most importantly I love that I don’t step back from self love. If you don’t love and respect yourself, why would anyone else bother to?

    1. And I love that for some reason your comment made me smile… I guess it’s the cheering people up with lame jokes. Hehe

You’re so right, if we don’t love and respect ourselves, who would bother to! Thanks so much for sharing 🙂

  3. I love that I believe in myself and my dream even when no one else does. I’ve made enormous life changes (going back to school for a masters degree in a new field and changing careers 15 years ago and moving across the country last year) because I knew it was the best decision.

  4. My blue eyes and friendly smile (makes people wonder what I am up to.). My passion for creative arts: knitting, Crochet, beading, painting, card making, and many others. My quick wit which I have to give kudos to my mother for creating in all three of her girls. My biggest bestie right now would be my love of words. I can throw down a mean story in a moment – woo hoo! Thank you for the great post.

    1. Haha… those are all awesome. I can relate to the smile.. people always look at me in a curious way when they see me smiling for no reason.
It was really nice reading your response, thanks for sharing 🙂

  5. I needed this. I love the fact that I pretty much will get the job done when asked – no nonsense type of person. I also love the fact that I will do whatever I can help my friends and family when they need it. And finally, I love that I always come back when things don’t go according to plan…it’s never a loss but a lesson (Jay Z) :o)

  6. You’re so right that this isn’t something we think about, and sharing is even harder. I love about myself: that I’m able to laugh at myself… constantly, that I find joy and beauty in daily life, and that my guiding principals are to treat others with kindness and compassion. 🙂

    1. Yep, it does take some willpower to figure out the things we love and share it. The ability to laugh at yourself is a really admirable quality, not to mention kindness and compassion. Thanks so much for sharing Diana 🙂
